The "Cotswold Gateway" collection are proud to present this varied and rare collection of hand crafted table tops some in the style of Italian pietra dura feature multi coloured marble and stone, some semi- precious such as malachite and lapis lazuli some of them inlaid in cuddapah black stone in a geometric pattern others in a more random flowing pattern many after 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th century originals others in a more contemporary style, they have all been sourced from through out the world. Now we can offer individual locally hand made stainless steel or mild steel (which can be painted to suit) bases in any design or height to match your requirements. The "Cotswold Gateway" collection can now offer a range of lacquered panels. Lacquering is an immensely time consuming ancient art requiring great skill. The artists start by painting the artwork onto wood and then apply up to 16 layers of lacquer carefully preparing the surfaces between each coat. This ensures the unique allure of lacquer ware. An amazing copy of a George III, 1810 style, hand carved limewood and hand gilded and ebonised , Convex Girandole ,the urn cresting with a flambeau finial above a swan neck pediment with foliate lion-mask volutes and paterae scrolls, the circular ribbon-tied laurel frame flanked by two pairs of candle branches with flambeau sconces, the foliate apron centred by an Egyptian mask. 4ft 8.25in high, 4ft wide.
A fine copy of a George III , 1820 Regency style, hand carved limewood and hand gilded , triple plate , landscape Overmantel Mirror with moulded cornice and key pattern frieze, with reeded half column vertical divisions, headed with lion masks.3ft high, 5ft wide.
A fantastic pair of copies (left + right) George III , 1770 style, hand carved limewood and hand gilded, oval Mirrors in gadrooned frames surrounded by ribbon-tied palm fronds. 3ft 3in high , 1ft 8.5in wide. The motif of crossed palm fronds, symbolising Concord and Victory, became a favourate device of English furniture- makers in the mid-18th century and was frequently used as the basis of designs for mirrors. one such design, strikingly similar to this mirror was published by Mayew and Ince in their influential pattern book The Universal System of Household Furniture of 1762.
